Minor League Report: Dunedin lost their seventh straight, New Hampshire lost late again, and more!

Despite the 12 runs, starter Chad Dallas actually had a solid outing, finishing with a line of 4.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K to bring his season ERA to 7.04. Andrew Bechtold came in first in relief and gave up three earned runs in 1.1 innings, while Hayden Juenger gave up two earned runs in 1.1 innings.

Fitz Stadler made his season debut and gave up four earned in a third of an inning pitched, while catcher Max McDowell pitched the remaining inning and a third and struck out a batter.

New Hampshire lose late AGAIN

It’s been a rough past two series for the Fisher Cats, as their 5-3 loss moves them to 2-8 in their past ten games. What has seemingly happened a lot happened again on Friday, as the Fisher Cats and Binghamton Rumble Ponies were tied heading into extra innings, before the Mets’ affiliate scored three runs in the top of the 10th.

There was some good news from this game, as Garrett Spain hit his fifth home run of the season. Moreover, Riley Tirotta and Josh Kasevich both had doubles, with the latter having a multi-hit game. The other multi-hit game belonged to Zach Britton, who went 2-4 with two singles. Other players with a hit were Gabriel Martinez and Miguel Hiraldo.

Adam Macko had a good start for the Fisher Cats, going 5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K with a home run given up to move his season ERA to a respectable 3.15. Trevor Clifton pitched in relief and had 1.2 innings of clean work.

Adrián Hernández struck out a batter and allowed a hit in his inning of work, while Jimmy Burnette struck out a batter in an inning of work. Abdiel Mendoza was tagged with a loss, giving up three runs, only one earned, and striking out two batters to bring his season ERA to 1.93.

Dunedin’s losing streak hit seven games

After a 9-3 start to their season, the Dunedin Blue Jays seemingly can’t stop the bleeding as they’ve fallen to 9-10 with a seven-game losing streak. Their 4-3 loss in the tenth inning only extended that losing streak.

Victor Arias stuck out four times in his four at bats on Thursday, but went 2-5 on Friday with the team’s only extra-base hit, a double. Arjun Nimmala also had a multi-hit game as he had two singles. Other players with a hit were Yhoangel Aponte, Ricardo Balogh, and Jean Joseph. The latter walked twice, while Maykel Minoso also walked once.

Although the Blue Jays lost, Fernando Pérez had a terrific game, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K to bring his season ERA to 4.12. He averaged 92.9 mph on his fastball and touched 95 mph with it, and generated 18 whiffs on 50 total swings for a 36 whiff%. This was easily his best start this year.

A comedy of errors in the bottom of the 10th led to Carson Pierce picking up the loss, as he finished with a line of 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER (3 R), 0 BB, 0 K. The changeup only generated two whiffs on nine total swings for a 22 whiff% in this game, not something that is common so far in Pierce’s big league career. Kiener Leon didn’t face a batter, due to a stolen base + error, but was on the mound when that happened.
